“No one has ever attempted something like this before — trying to capture an entire city in one day.”
Thomas Kufus, Producer, in The Hollywood Reporter
On September 9, 2008, 80 professional camera crews documented the lives of Berliners for 24 hours, generating approximately 750 hours of footage. The resulting documentary, 24h Berlin, covers diverse aspects of life in the metropolis, ranging from addicts to Berlin’s mayor. Broadcast on German television as a 24-hour event, 24h Berlin was also distributed online in short segments. Three winning video stories recorded by Berliners on September 9, 2008 were selected by a jury and also added to the website. Visitors to the original 24h Berliner website could watch the short clips in any order, constructing their own experience of the city.
