The user interface is a timeline, in combination with two perspectives. The timeline starts in the ’90s and runs until the present day. The timeline gives the opportunity to explore piracy from its origins to the consequences of piracy today and the near future.
Femke Wolting and Tommy Pallotta, creators of Last Hijack Interactive
Last Hijack Interactive allows you to uncover the complex realities behind piracy in Somalia by juxtaposing the western and the Somali points of view. Combining unique live-action video shot on location, animated illustrations, text and data visualizations, the interactive documentary gives the user the opportunity to navigate the real stories of real people. The story builds up to eye-witness accounts of an actual hijacking, as recounted by the Somalian hijacker Mohammed Nur and a British captain Colin Darch. How can one such event influence an entire society? What is the global impact of a single hijack?
Last Hijack Interactive is the online counterpart to the semi-animated feature length film Last Hijack.
